Privacy notice

This notice explains which personal data is processed when you visit anamonteiro.ch or contact me through the website, why, and what your rights are. It follows the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP). Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, the notice covers it too.

Who is responsible

Ana Monteiro, Zürich, Switzerland
Email: ana.monteiro@gmail.com

This is a personal portfolio. There is no advertising, no analytics and no tracking on this website, and I do not sell or share your data.

Visiting the website

When you open a page, your browser sends technical data to the server that hosts this website: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the referring page and your browser's user agent. This data is needed to deliver the pages and to protect the website against abuse. It is processed by the server and its reverse proxy and is not combined with other data.

Fonts and images are served from this website itself. No data is sent to font or image providers.

Contact form

When you send a message through the contact form, the website stores:

  • your name, your email address and your message,
  • the language of the page you used and the time of sending,
  • a pseudonymised code derived from your IP address and the current day (a keyed hash, from which the IP address cannot be read back). It is used only to limit the number of messages per day and to stop spam. Your IP address itself is not stored.

I use this data only to read and answer your message. It is stored in the website's database and sent to me by email. I delete messages when they are no longer needed to answer you or to follow up on our conversation. Database backups are kept for up to six months and are then deleted automatically.

The form contains a hidden field and measures how quickly it is filled in; both only help to recognise automated spam.

Service providers

The following providers process data on my behalf. They may only use it to provide their service to me.

  • Hosting: the website, its database and the uploaded images run on a virtual private server that I rent. The data stays on this server.
  • Resend (Resend, Inc., USA) delivers the email notification that contains your name, email address and message. The data is transferred to the USA.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile (Cloudflare, Inc., USA) checks on the contact page that the form is used by a person and not by a bot. For this check, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address and information about your browser and device. See Cloudflare's privacy policy (opens in a new tab).
  • YouTube (Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC, USA): some project pages show videos. They are loaded from youtube-nocookie.com only after you click play; until then, no connection to YouTube is made and the preview image comes from this website. Once you play a video, Google processes your IP address and device data and may store information on your device. See Google's privacy policy (opens in a new tab).

For transfers to the USA, the providers rely on the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or on the standard contractual clauses recognised by the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner.

Cookies and local storage

This website sets one functional cookie, NEXT_LOCALE, which remembers the language you chose for one year. It contains only the language code and is not used for tracking. There are no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.

Only when you play a video can YouTube store its own cookies or similar data (see above). The admin area of the website uses a login cookie for the site owner only.

Your rights

You can ask me at any time which personal data about you I process, and ask me to correct or delete it, to restrict its processing, or to hand it over to you in a common format. You can also object to the processing. Just write to the email address above.

If you believe your data is processed unlawfully, you can lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC, www.edoeb.admin.ch (opens in a new tab)). If you live in the EU, you can also contact the data protection authority of your country.

Changes

I update this notice when the website changes. The current version is always published on this page.
